ANNE FRANK'S HOUSE
This is history! It's such a sad story..
In 1942, with Nazis occupying Holland, a thriteen-year-old Jewish girl and her family fled thier home in Amsterdam and went into hiding. For the next two years, until their whereabouts were betrayed, they and another family lived cloistered in the "Secret Annex" of an old office building, behind a bookcase.
Cut off from the outside world, they faced hunger, boredom, the constant cruelties of living in confined quarters, and the ever-present threat of discovery and death. In her diary Anne Frank recorded vivid impressions of her experiences during this period. By turns thoughtful, moving, and amusing, her account offers a fascinating commentary on human courage and frailty and a compelling self-portrait of a sensitive and spirited yound woman whose promise was tragically cut short by Hitler, the killer of over 6 million Jews in World War II.
All of them died. It's SOO sad. There were so many steep steps in the house. You can really feel the aura of war in the house. Too bad all the furnishings in the house were taken away by the Nazis and the father of Anne did'nt want to refurnish it.
CRUISE
This is a cruise around Amsterdam! The canals were dug by hand in the 1700's they said. And a total of 1200 briges in Amsterdam.
I just love doing that! Haha. After that we rushed back to the hotel and took our small luggages to head back to the apartment in Antwerp. (All our other luggages were there)
